Sushant Singh Rajput , a David felled by the Goliaths of Bollywood

A victim of the vicious PR Machinery prevalent in Bollywood

So, I am back to blogging after 10 years with my wannabe writing skills. First and foremost, I would like to tell my readers that I am not an Oxford Graduate and my writing is below average but my intentions are not! The death of Sushant Singh Rajput has shaken me, and I could not help but pen down my thoughts.

I must admit in the beginning that I am not a fan of Sushant Singh Rajput, I have seen his movies, always thought he is a good actor but never bothered about him. I asked this question to myself, why didn't I? Out of the 9 movies he did, 6 were successful , that’s a good enough ratio considering Ranbir Kapoor is the messiah of Bollywood after churning out countless disasters. I pondered and almost in an eureka moment, ferreted out the tacid game that's played by the paid media with our minds(sponsored by the famous mafia gang & co). Aren’t our minds easily swayed by the nepotistic PR machinery that is prevalent in  Bollywood? When Karan Johar says Alia Bhatt is the best actress of Bollywood and 10 articles come out in quick succession endorsing his opinion, she invariably becomes the Meryl Streep of India, no questions asked there! Ranbir Kapoor is included in the top 5 actors list on the #meangirlgang show's Rapid fire round along with seasoned stalwarts like SRK, Aamir and Salman and naturally we tend to think he is indeed as great as them .

When a Varun Dhawan movie like Badlapur does well, there are 100 articles and posts hailing him as the next superstar, there are magazine covers, starlets going gaga over him on #MeanGirlGang show,he is ranked very high by all and sundry in rapid fire etc. Contrarily, when a sushant movie did well, there was hardly any noise, his success was brushed under the carpet, merely sung or celebrated. There were hardly any congratulatory messages from Bollywood Mafias and their chamchas including the journalists who are writing poems in his name now. I don’t blame Karan Johar directly for his death but he is implicitly responsible for his depression. The boy tried very hard to be accepted but failed.

In spite of his complete dedication towards the craft and sincerity, he had to experience the horrible feeling of dejection and isolation and this was quite evident on #MeanGirlGang show where most of the guests insinuated that he is a misfit and does not deserve to be in their elite club . How many times has an actress placed him last in the “Rank the actors” question? Just go back and watch the episodes, Sonam Kapoor (who can’t act to save her life) questioned the identity of the poor lad and he was killed by almost all the actresses in Kill/Marry/Hookup round , some were his co-stars too like the unscrupulous Parineeti Chopra who made an “EWW” expression and said “Sushant? Hot? Oh! No!” as if he is an untouchable ,she and many others knew that this answer would not offend the host (the High Preist of Nepotism) who was more than happy and smiled along in agreement.

Did they have the guts to say “Siddharth Malhotra , Who?”…Siddharth Malhotra, btw is another KJO produce who can’t act to save his existence but is well celebrated in the media circuit , #MeanGirlGang can’t stop drooling over his hotness & non-existent acting skills and one starlet(one of Sushant’s costars) from the gang has even started dating him. In all interviews, he is always promoted as this desirable man whom every girl wants to date even when his films have bombed at the BO, one after the other. That is the power of media and we fall prey to it. We can’t help but start believing whatever is being projected is indeed true. One flop from Sushant is equivalent to 10 flops from a Nepo Kid. One Raabta and his reputation was dashed to smithereens whereas Chicchore’s success was not attributed to him.It is all about the image that is forcefully planted in our minds, that is why I never cared enough about Sushant(even after delivering a hit) but kept a tab on what Varun is doing. Chhichhore was a big hit but how many “after success” interviews did Sushant feature in? I can’t remember a single article praising Sushant and his ability to deliver a 200 + crore movie. Kedarnath was all about Sara Ali Khan. Had Sid or Varun done the same, you all know what would have happened. Vickey Kaushal, another rising star is intelligent , he has sucked up to the Bollywood Mafia Gang and is well accepted , his recent flop did not affect him at all , which means his obsequious behavior is bearing fruits. Ditto, for Bhumi Pednekar who is starring in the next KJO Film which is supposedly the K3G of Mughal Era (Give me a place to hide when it releases) .Coming back to Bhumi, I have never heard Bhumi praising Sushant, her co-actor from Sonchiriya which was critically acclaimed. Had it been Kartik(New Entrant in the Gang with Dostana 2) , things would have been different.

I can give countless examples , I still remember Kajol(another overrated product of nepotism), getting awards for mediocre performances like Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham(Hamfest) over Tabu and My Name is Khan where she had a brief role. No one questioned that because Kajol was always a personal favourite of the editor of the supposed No 1 Film Magazine of India who by the way is a close friend of Karan Johar. So, a chain reaction happens , when Karan Johar/Gang likes somebody, media giants like the aforementioned magazine relentlessly promotes their films, covers pour in pell mell anointing them as the biggest stars but for Sushant on the other hand, awards to dur ki bat ,there were nasty and vicious blinds (especially after MS Dhoni) to curb his rise as he was becoming a threat to the Gang.

Sushant’s name was always taken in a hushed tone, people were simply not excited to associate with him as he was not a part of the famous camp of Bollywood, he defied all norms in life and was too educated but unfortunately not posh enough to be accepted by the Gang. His mind was brilliant and that too was criticized mercilessly instead of getting appreciation. I have never seen Karan Johar(I am sorry for mentioning him time & again but he is undoubtedly the flagbearer of nepotism)taking a jibe at Sonam’s lack of acting skills but he did not blink an eye before snickering at Sushant’s Twitter/Insta posts on Science. Now, how can an evolved individual like him survive in a suffocating environment where Dolce & Gabbana are more revered than Vincent van Gogh and Einstein, where Quantum Physics and the mystery of Universe clearly has no takers in comparison to mindless discussions about couture & shiny shoes!

I am very sorry for ignoring you Sushant! I know the feeling of being isolated and dejected and yet I looked at you through the Bolly Mafia’s lenses. All I can do is make up for it, even when it doesn’t matter to you or anyone but the Bollywood Mafia Productions will have one less fan and I sincerely apologize for being one in the past. You see, I was misled like many others. All I can do is not watch their films in a theatre and keep you alive someway or the other on social media. As a non-entity, that’s the best I can do for you😊
